Straight Stairlift Features
Companion is dedicated to offering stairlifts which take into account every aspect of comfort, reliability and safety. If you would like to experience the quality of one of our stairlifts for yourself, please call today and we will be happy to arrange a no-obligation stairlift trial at your home. Think of it as your ‘test drive’ for a more independent way of living.
Here is a list of the features which can be built into your straight stairlift to make it just as unique as your home. And if you don’t see what you are looking for, just ask, as it may well be that our expert stairlift engineers can come up with the perfect solution.
Powered Hinge Track – No Blocked Doorways or Trip Hazards
Clients are often concerned that the track from their stairlift will end up blocking off a doorway, either at the top or bottom of their stairs. If this is the case in your home, we can create a section of track which is ‘power-hinged’ to fold away at the touch of a button on the handset to mean that the track folds automatically back to reveal the doorway
Track Extensions – Travel Door to Door In Comfort
If you would like your stairlift to take you a bit further than just to the top or bottom of your stairs, we can extend the track to take you to when you need to be to comfortable alight the stairlift. This is particularly popular with clients who want to be well away from the top of stairs when they get on and off their stairlift, adding to the feeling of security that a Companion stairlift provides.
Remote Control – Park & Ride at the Touch of a Button
Companion believes that technology can be a wonderful thing, and our easy to use remote control units are testimony to this philosophy. You can use your remote control to command the stairlift to ‘park’ out of sight at the top or bottom of the stairs, and just call it back when required. Clients sometimes use their stairlift as their own dumb waiter, sending drinks or snacks or baskets of washing upstairs on the lift to a waiting recipient. The remote control is also invaluable when more than one person in the household uses the stairlift – one touch of the button brings the stairlift back to where you need it to be for its next journey. Using the remote control for your stairlift, another person can operate the stairlift whilst you travel in comfort and safety.
Left or Right Handed Controls – You Choose
A Companion stairlift can have its essential control panel fitted on either its left or right hand side armrest. This is a very useful feature for people who have possibly suffered a loss of mobility to one side of their body and need a stairlift that is built around their needs.
Upholstery Colour Choice – Luxury Fabrics, Colours and Patterns
Many of our clients take great pride in their home, their taste and their décor. In fact, one of the reasons why people might delay getting a stairlift is simply due to the perception that they look unattractive and obtrusive and ‘spoil’ your hall. Companion is therefore pleased to offer a choice of 6 different colours for upholstering the stairlift seat cushion so you can choose the look that you want and don’t worry if you change or mind (or your décor) in the future, we can arrange for the seat to be re-upholstered for you. The design of the Companion seat also offers unrivalled lumbar (lower back) support. Stylish and supportive.
Swivel Seat Option for Easier Dismounting – No Twisting & Turning
We know that twisting to get out of a seat is never good for your back, however fit you might be, so that’s why the seat of a Companion stairlift does the turning for you. The seat can be swivelled to leave you facing the landing meaning you can step off the stairlift comfortably onto the landing. We can also offer a powered swivel seat if you would prefer your stairlift to take the strain.
Adjustable Seat
Automatic Cut-Out Safety Sensors – Smooth, Swift Emergency Stops
Every stairlift is fitted with no fewer than 10 safety sensors so that if it detects an object or obstruction in its path, it comes to a smooth and immediate halt to enable you to remove the obstruction, or return to the top or foot of the stairs safely to call for assistance. A Companion stairlift will never jerk or jar – even when it needs to stop suddenly.
Easy to Use - Push & Go
Everything you need to drive your stairlift is at your fingertips on the armrest of your chair. Companion has designed and installed a large, easy grip paddle switch which requires minimal pressure. Simply push in the direction of travel and glide off to a smooth journey.
Companion's unique ergonomic controls were designed with input from Occupational Therapists to make sure a Companion is one of the easiest stairlifts to use - even for arthritis sufferers or the visually impaired.
